Based out of Hong Kong, North Asia FSIG delivers evidence-based decision-making and execution for Growth, Transformation, and M&A and Post Deal solutions that are enabled by technology and artificial intelligence. We work with Banks, Insurers, Wealth and Asset Managers, Private Equity Investors, and Sovereign Wealth Funds. Cost and Transformation Director, Financial Services Industry Group, Asia – Hong Kong
We are seeking an experienced Director of 12+ years’ experience in a top-tier management consulting firm or in-house finance, transformation, or strategy department, who is looking to become involved in a “hands-on” team. We want a team player with an entrepreneurial mindset who can excel in a fast-paced environment that encourages working directly with Senior Directors and Managing Directors.
The successful candidate will have a have a proven, quantifiable track record of executing cost reductions, managing complex transformation programs, or leading rapid turnarounds in banking, insurance, or wealth and asset management. You can seamlessly transition from advising the board to rapidly dissecting complex financial models and balance sheets to find trapped value.
The successful candidate will have experience working with Financial Services organisations including strategy engagements, transactions and deals, operations, change and transformation programs, digital-focused initiatives or enterprise level AI transformation.
How you will contribute:
- Lead rigorous financial diagnostics & executive advisory: Act as a highly credible peer advisor to client C-suites while directing deep-dive quantitative assessments to identify structural cost reduction opportunities.
- Architect and implement Target Operating Models (TOM): Design and execute enterprise-wide restructurings, utilizing span-of-control analysis, shared services consolidation, and location strategy (offshoring/BPO) to drive sustainable P&L improvements.
- Optimize capital and drive financial restructuring: Apply deep technical knowledge of financial services balance sheets to execute working capital optimization, Risk-Weighted Asset efficiency, and rigorous liquidity forecasting
- Direct cost execution: Oversee complex IT, operational, and vendor rationalization initiatives, implementing strict PMO governance to ensure identified cost synergies are directly mapped to the P&L and realized within aggressive timeframes.
- Lead program delivery and mentor teams: Take ultimate accountability for the successful delivery, risk management, and project economics of multi-workstream programs. Ensure robust governance, risk management, and compliance across engagements.
- Lead proposal development and support the conversion of new business opportunities. Collaborate across service lines to bring integrated solutions to clients.
- Coach and develop consulting teams through mentoring, performance management, and capability building.
- Contribute to practice development, thought leadership, and strategic growth initiatives.
Qualification:
- University degree with a Master/ Bachelor degree or above in accounting, data science, economics, finance, financial engineering, information technology, management, or related disciplines. MBA from a top-tier institution will be advantageous.
- 12+ years’ of experience at a top-tier management consulting firm, in-house finance, transformation, or strategy team, in the financial services industry.
- Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills.
- Demonstrated success in business development and client relationship management.
- Experience managing budgets, project economics, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to translate complex analysis into practical, value-driven recommendations.
- Passion for developing people and building high-performing teams.
- Business proficiency in Cantonese or Mandarin will be advantageous.
