The Strategic Finance team is seeking an Associate Director to join our team supporting coverage of the Principal Investing segment. Strategic Finance is responsible for the firm’s financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and other strategic financial analyses. The role provides an opportunity to get involved in all these aspects and offers a unique vantage point of Apollo’s entire eco-system.
Primary Responsibilities
Apollo Business Reporting, Budgeting and Forecasting
- Maintain detailed and flexible financial models of Principal Investment Income (“PII”) P&L, model new strategic initiatives
- Liaise with Financial Reporting, Treasury, Human Capital, Business Management, and Investment teams to source and analyze data for the Firm’s budget, long-term plan, and monthly forecast process plan supporting Senior Management decision-making
- Work through ad hoc projects and scenario analyses based on macroeconomic environment and market conditions (i.e., stress testing in partnership with our Risk function)
- Support Human Capital in compensation decisions and structuring
- Become an AI thought leader for the team to help us transform our PII analysis to make it more data driven, efficient, dynamic, and action-oriented
Financial Analytics / Strategic Initiatives and Transaction Support
- Model and analyze often complex and strategic initiatives to support Apollo CFO and key stakeholders decisions (Business, Risk, Compensation, etc.)
- Act as key point person on strategic projects (e.g., new fund profitability, tax analyses, fund acquisitions, M&A impacts, complex transactions, modelling their impact on the PII segment and implications to Apollo, etc.)
- Enhance financial models to fully capture business drivers and understand key trends, risks, and opportunities
Qualifications & Experience
- 5+ years of financial analysis experience, ideally in Investment Banking or Asset Management, in core CFO or FP&A functions, Big-4 valuation or advisory services
- Strong analytical thinking and financial reasoning capabilities with ability to think creatively. Excellent Excel-based modeling skills are required, experience with data analytics as well as AI would be a plus
- Passion for constant learning and developing an understanding beyond the pure mechanics of forecasting, strong appetite to always understand the “Bigger picture” including market dynamics and to question outcomes
- Exceptional (PowerPoint) presentation skills required - - ability to help “pitch” analysis to different audiences
- Excellent communication and presentation skills as this is a highly visible role
- Heightened attention to detail and organizational skills
- Flexible and comfortable working in a fast-paced, highly demanding, rapidly changing environment
- Operates with high energy, a “can do” attitude, and can run with projects independently

Pay Range
$140,000 – $205,000

The base salary range for this position is listed above. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on personal, team, and Firm performance. Compensation ranges are based on several factors including job function, level, and geographic location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed here.
