The
Global Advertising and Brand Management (GABM) team is responsible for creating marketplace demand and driving commerce for American Express through differentiated and innovative branding, marketing, and experiences. The Global Brand Strategy & Insights team sits within GABM. We are responsible for accelerating brand consideration globally by delivering robust insights, transformative brand strategies, and key capabilities for marketers across the organization.
We are seeking a
Senior Manager, GABM Strategy & Financial Planning who can help lead our long-range strategic planning process, ensuring collaboration across GABM as we build multi-year plans to increase the consideration of our brand around the world. This person will play a critical role in shaping and advancing GABM's strategic priorities, leading complex, high-impact initiatives and developing data-driven recommendations for senior leadership. The ideal candidate combines strong strategic thinking, analytical rigor, executive presence and the ability to influence stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Support GABM's annual planning processes, including development of the Long-Range Plan and Bottoms-Up Plan, providing strategic recommendations and investment priorities for the CMO and senior leadership.
- Synthesize complex data, insights, and financials into clear, actionable recommendations and executive-ready materials to support decision-making and investment prioritization.
- Develop perspectives on competitive dynamics, industry trends, and emerging opportunities by consolidating internal and external insights.
- Lead strategic projects aligned to key business priorities, driving analysis, stakeholder alignment, and recommendations through execution.
- Partner across GABM, Finance, and enterprise teams to build alignment, influence decisions, and advance strategic initiatives in a highly matrixed environment.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, business planning, or related field.
- Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex information into actionable insights.
- Exceptional executive communication and storytelling capabilities, including experience developing recommendations for senior leadership.
- Demonstrated success leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing stakeholders without direct authority.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to build relationships with senior stakeholders across functions.
- High degree of professionalism, integrity, discretion, and sound judgment.
- Self-starter who is comfortable operating in ambiguity and taking ownership of evolving responsibilities.
- Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel.
- Bachelor's degree required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in financial services, payments, marketing, advertising, media, or customer engagement businesses.
- MBA or equivalent advanced degree.
- Familiarity with brand strategy, customer marketing, advertising effectiveness, or partnership ecosystems.
