Lead the global Software Asset Management strategy and operations to ensure license compliance, optimize software spend across on-prem, SaaS, and cloud, and reduce audit and security risk. Own the SAM operating model, processes, and tooling across regions; partner with Publishers, Legal, Data Privacy, Finance, Security, IT, and business units to deliver a single source of truth for software assets, proactive governance, and measurable savings. Modernize SAM services while maintaining strong audit defense and enterprise publisher management.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategy & Operating Model
Define and execute a global SAM strategy, roadmap, and operating model covering on-prem, SaaS, and cloud (IaaS/PaaS), aligned to enterprise goals and risk appetite
Establish and maintain policies, standards, and processes for the full software lifecycle: demand, procurement, deployment, usage, optimization, renewal, and retirement
2. Governance, Compliance & Audit Defense
Ensure license compliance across publishers; maintain audit-ready evidence and lead audit responses to minimize financial and legal exposure
Implement and enforce controls to address license, cyber, privacy, data governance, and financial risks associated with software last use date
Govern SaaS portfolios and cloud license models; optimize consumption and ensure entitlement compliance
Comply with blocking unapproved software guidance Cost Optimization & Value Realization
Drive enterprise software cost optimization through usage analytics, right-sizing subscriptions, harvesting unused entitlements, and contract/rate optimization; maintain KPIs on spend, utilization, and savings.
3. Tooling & Data
Own the SAM/ITAM toolset (e.g., ServiceNow SAM Pro), with discovery from Intune, entitlement, normalization, reconciliation, and reporting capabilities to maintain a single source of truth
4. Vendor & Stakeholder Management
Partner with Publishers to negotiate pricing and renewals; align contract terms with legal and security requirements
Coordinate with Legal, Finance, Security, IT Ops, IT Business Partners; embed SAM checkpoints in procurement, change, and security governance

Build and mentor a global SAM team, define roles/KPIs, and foster cross-functional collaboration; champion the evolution from compliance-centric SAM to a strategic value driver (“SAM 2.0”)
