Your Impact
In this role, you will have regional exposure (across geography and industry) as well as the opportunity to build deep functional capability around due diligence and other topics related to investors.
You will grow into an expert role, leading teams on client projects including due diligence. Your career growth from there on will be to an associate partner role which will involve playing a greater leadership role within the practice.
Client project work typically includes gathering and analyzing information, formulating and testing hypotheses, and developing recommendations for presentation to client management. From there, you will implement those recommendations with client team members. You will work across other private equity/investor engagements including portfolio companies, firm strategy/organization and market scans.
You will be based in our Tokyo office in Japan as part of our Private Capital (PC) practice. You will be an integral part of a client service team that serves a cluster of PC clients. You will work with analysts and engagement managers on project teams to drive client insights – including on due diligence, portfolio engagements and other client-based efforts.

Your Qualifications and Skills
- Undergraduate degree with an outstanding academic record; advanced degree (MBA, Master’s in Finance, Economics, or related field) is a plus
- 5+ years of relevant experience in Private Equity, Investment Banking, consulting, accounting/advisory firms (e.g., Transaction Services, Valuations, Deal Advisory), financial research institutions (e.g., equity research, credit research, strategy/research teams), or other research-intensive roles
- Strong understanding of private capital and investment-related topics, including industry research, market trends, and deal dynamics; prior exposure to due diligence is a plus but not required
- Demonstrated experience in research and insight generation (e.g., market mapping, industry analysis, company benchmarking, financial analysis, synthesis of multiple data sources into clear insights)
- Strong analytical capabilities, including structured problem solving and ability to interpret financial and operational data
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; experience with research databases data/analytical tools is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex analyses into clear, concise, and compelling outputs
- Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to work collaboratively with global teams in a remote or hybrid support model
- Proven ability to manage multiple requests, prioritize effectively, and deliver high-quality output in a fast-paced, knowledge-driven environment
- Strong attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and a proactive approach to building and sharing knowledge
- Fluency in both Japanese and English
